PollyLens: Automating Scientific Literature Review & Biological Knowledge Discovery

High-Level Architecture for CDMO Capacity Modeling

PollyLens is Elucidata’s purpose-built AI tool designed to automate the exhaustive synthesis of scientific literature. Unlike general AI tools that scan only a fraction of available data, PollyLens processes all the available publications to get the most comprehensive results.

It enables research teams to move beyond surface-level summaries and dive deep into the scientific literature.

The Problem

Biomedical research generates thousands of papers per topic each year. Missing a single critical study can mean pursuing a dead-end target, overlooking a key indication, or arriving late to a breakthrough. General AI tools like ChatGPT and Manus AI were never designed for such deep Scientific literature review, they can only scan fewer than 150 of the 5,000+ papers available.

Solution:

PollyLens delivers context-rich analysis with the depth and quality of a professional review paper. It critiques the methods, weighs the evidence, and looks for what's missing. With PollyLens, we are bringing a level of rigor that automated "off-the-shelf" AI cannot match.

Our AI Workflow

We designed a custom workflow to handle the true scale of scientific literature:

  1. Mass Collection: We collect every relevant paper available. In our recent test, this yielded ~5,000 papers.
  2. Relevance Scoring: We programmatically score these against the specific research question, filtering the pool down to the most pertinent ~1,000 papers.
  3. Claim Extraction: We extract specific claims such as a gene being part of a protein complex linked to the disease and map the supporting evidence.
  4. Deduplication & Synthesis: We isolate the truly unique insights, then populate a context-rich Knowledge Graph tailored specifically to the literature of interest.

COMPETITIVE COMPARISON

PollyLens vs. general-purpose AI tools

PollyLens transforms literature overload into structured biological knowledge, enabling research teams to validate targets, understand disease mechanisms, and accelerate discovery with confidence.
